Miraculous healing of the eye
When I came to Assisi with my daughter in 2025, I accidentally injured my left eye while putting in a contact lens. The pain was acute, and the eye swelled up and became bloodshot. By the time I removed my lens, the damage was already done. My left eye wept continuously, and if I tried to open it fully, the pain was too intense to bear. I didn’t know an eye doctor in the area and wasn’t sure what to do, so I went to the nearest Farmacia and purchased eye drops for redness. They didn’t do much, and the pain continued.
After a few hours, I decided to walk down to Santa Maria Maggiore and pray before Blessed Carlo’s tomb. When I reached the church, there was a line of about fifty school children waiting to see Carlo. I walked down the left aisle of the church to the tabernacle and knelt before Jesus. I decided I would pray a rosary while I waited for the schoolchildren to finish their visit. My left eye wept continuously, the pain of the injury forcing me to keep that eye closed. Praying through the decades of the rosary brought calm, but my eye still hurt dreadfully. At the end of the rosary, I said, “Jesus, I am not asking for a miracle, but I only have two days here with my daughter, and I would really like to be able to spend them together without my eye being swollen shut. Blessed Carlo, would you ask Jesus to grant me relief"?”
After making the sign of the cross, I opened my eyes—yes…EYES. Both eyes opened fully. The pain in my left eye was completely gone. I blinked, unable to believe what I was feeling. My left eye was clear and pain-free. I walked past Blessed Carlo’s tomb on my way out and touched the “IHS” at the center, thanking God for this most miraculous healing. When I reached my daughter’s apartment, she said, “Mama! Your eye is clear!” I laughed and told her I had just been to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament and had asked Blessed Carlo to intercede for me. My eye was healed, and I could see clearly and without any pain. Thank you, Jesus.
